We were all somehow drawn together... each of us felt that there was something missing... for some reason, we ended up playing together. From that first moment, we knew that we needed each other. We will forever be arm in arm... KUI LIMA!
Kui Lima is an all-`ukulele group with (one person doing all the) percussion and background instruments (you da man, Reid!). During the winter season, we may pull out our brass and woodwind instruments and do some seasonal music! Hey, we may even come by to clean your yard!
Our main purpose is to have fun, and share that fun with others, hopefully to spread happiness to everyone we meet, through our music and through our actions. We all have ups and downs, and that’s okay; so we should all help each other whenever possible, as much as possible when someone is in the down. No performance or job is too small or too unimportant! We feel we can make a difference. We remind ourselves of this story:
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!”
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…”I made a difference for that one.”
Aloha and Mahalo!
